City of Newburgh Mayor Torrance Harvey is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh to launch the Summer Youth Employment Initiative. The program will employ 50 youth ages 14-18 and 10 Site Supervisors (age 19+) to participate in trade skills development and work experience via education and applied practice in civic planning, public art, environmental stewardship, social justice, and youth activism.
Over the course of five weeks, beginning July 13 through August 14, youth will gain employment skills while working in specialized production teams to design and implement creative community projects within the City of Newburgh. The initiative will also engage regional artists, professors, community leaders, business owners and entrepreneurs through a series of workshops that will expose youth to a variety of careers and employment pathways, and equip them with the skills necessary to bring their community projects from concept to layout.
Mayor Harvey’s Summer Youth Employment initiative will provide youth employees with a truly unique opportunity to not only earn money, gain skills and discover career pathways, but to also invest meaningfully in their community. The application deadline is 6/30/2020 by 5:00PM. Please visit www.bgcnny.org for application and further details.
