Anika Mohammed Appointed City of Newburgh Court Judge

Newburgh NY

The City of Newburgh is pleased to announce appointment of attorney Anika Mohammed as City of Newburgh Court Judge effective July 12, 2021. The appointment was made by Mayor Torrance R. Harvey after former City Court Judge Peter Kuklin vacated the office upon his retirement.

Judge Mohammed’s term is set to expire following the results of the next general city election on November 2, 2021. A City Court Judge position will be on the ballot for City voters in this November’s election. 

Judge Mohammed is a former Assistant District Attorney in Orange County, NY. In this position, she has handled felony and misdemeanor matters, including prosecution of larceny, driving, violent, and traffic offenses. 

Mohammed, is a life long resident of the Hudson Valley. She is a graduate of Pace University School of Law and Marist College.
