Notice of Virtual Meetings of the Zoning Board of Appeals

On June 23, 2021, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced an end to the state of emergency, effective June 24, 2021.  The New York State Committee on Open Government confirmed that in accordance with the expiration of the state of emergency, all suspensions of the New York State Open Meetings Law would expire as well.  Thus, effective June 25, 2021, all public bodies subject to the Open Meetings Law must return to in-person meetings as required by law.

The Zoning Board of Appeals enforces the zoning laws of the City of Newburgh and hears applications for variances to those laws.

An applicant for a variance must demonstrate that a substantial and unique hardship would be created by the strict interpretation of the zoning law, and this hardship can be corrected by a slight variation in the regulations without causing undue hardship to others or to the City as a whole.
