Arts & Cultural Commission

The City of Newburgh Arts and Cultural Commission (NACC) is established in Chapter 14 of the City Code and consists of no more than 15 members appointed by the City Council for three-year terms. The NACC elects a Chairperson from among its members.

The NACC is empowered by City Code §14-1 to advise and make recommendations to the City government and its agencies on issues related to the development of art and culture; insuring public funding for the arts and arts education; promoting arts and culture as an integral part of community life; fostering a creative environment reflective of the multicultural nature of the City of Newburgh and to guarantee equal access to the arts; enhancing access to, appreciation of and participation in the arts for all persons; providing more educational opportunities for all persons to learn about the arts, and increasing the role played by the arts in education in all forms.
