To obtain a marriage license in the City of Newburgh, the following are required:
- Both bride and groom must appear in person with identification AND birth certificates (original or certified copies only – NO photocopies)
- Both must be 18 years of age. If either is 17 years of age, the consent of both parents and a Court Order is required. Marriages to minors under the age of 17 are prohibited by law.
- If either person has been married before, we will need to see the divorce decree (if the marriage ended in divorce) or death certificate (if the marriage ended in death).
Fee
The fee for a marriage license is $40 and can be obtained between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
