Public Hearing - Ordinance Amending Chapter 300 Entitled "Zoning"
City Council held a public hearing on March 27, 2023 and will hold a second public hearing on May 8, 2023 to receive comments concerning amendments to Chapter 300 entitled "Zoning" of the City of Newburgh Code of Ordinances related to adult use cannabis.
Streamlining & Rezoning
The City of Newburgh has completed a comprehensive rezoning process. Effective September 1, 2015, the City has a new zoning ordinance that makes for a more straightforward process to open businesses in Newburgh.
The Zoning Code, Chapter 300 of the City code is available online and copies are available at the City Clerk's office. Uses that are Permitted by Right in the Zoning, generally only require sign-off from the Building Department relating to the issuance of Building Permits. Questions regarding use can be emailed to the City Planner.
If your project does require approvals from a Land Use Board, please contact the Secretary to the Land Use Boards to schedule a time to discuss your project.
Applications & Presentations
There is a new consolidated Land Use Application (PDF) that provides instructions for all applications which require a land use board's approval. A summary presentation on Streamlining and Zoning (PDF) was presented on October 20th, 2015.
