Bureau of Fire Prevention

The Bureau of Fire Prevention is established within the Fire Department under Article XII of the City Charter and operated under the supervision of the Fire Chief. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is responsible for enforcing the Fire Prevention Code as well as the Electrical Code.

In an effort to help reduce delays in providing emergency assistance when a fire breaks out, the Fire Department promotes property owners to use a secure emergency access program (a.k.a. Rapid Entry System). The entry system allows immediate entry into buildings and property without forced entry damage or delays.

Consumer-friendly safety tips on a wide range of fire and related hazards are available. For more safety information, please contact the Fire Department.
