On Saturday, April 1, sixty-five senior citizens met at Hudson Pointe apartments with Newburgh youth to share information, ideas, perspectives on the community, good food and just plain fun. "Generation Gab" was the latest phase of a "blitz" of events by the Sustainable Master Plan Committee with the goal of gathering as much community input as possible by April 1.
Around 1500 questionnaires in English and Spanish have been filled out by community members of all ages as a result of the committee's extensive outreach to churches, schools, organizations, and even door-to-door.
Along with some very pleasant memories, around 50 questionnaires were collected.
Youth Organizations participating in this event included: City of Newburgh Youth Bureau, Glenn Hines Boys and Girls Club, Liberty Partnership Program, NAACP Youth Leadership Program, and the House of Joy.
Food for the event was donated by Mr. John Duck, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ms. Grace Clegg, Daughters of Ruth, Order of the Eastern Star, Parents of the Youth Bureau and Master Plan Stakeholders. |
