The City of Newburgh Economic Adjustment Strategy is the result of a concerted effort on the part of the City of Newburgh, working in conjunction with Orange County officials and Triad Associates in 2001. The Economic Adjustment Strategy includes the following key elements:

  • Competitive Assessment,
  • Market Analysis and Strategy
  • Community Revitalization Strategy

In the formulation an Action Agenda, the strategy has been uniquely tailored not only to assess physical and social conditions but also to reflect upon the City's many strengths.

Among the City's many strengths are its institutional partners, including the Orange County Community College, Mount St. Mary's College, and St. Luke's Hospital. The City's rich historic and architectural resources, such as Washington's Headquarters, Liberty Street, the 1841 Court House, and many other architectural treasures also contribute to the vision of the Action Agenda.

This Economic Adjustment Strategy offers several conclusions and recommendations, designed to revitalize and redevelop the City's commercial core and the surrounding neighborhoods, so that there can be a seamless transition linking the downtown with the ongoing riverfront renaissance.
