The Newburgh City Assessor's office is a busy place. In addition to managing assessments on more than 6,900 properties in the City, administering exemption programs, tracking sales and handling other matters involving property valuation, the office fields a plethora of questions from people who have discovered that opportunities abound in the City.

In 2007, 153 single-family homes were sold at prices ranging from $58,000 to $700,000. The average was $219,600 (the median was $210,000), reflecting a 5% increase over 2006. Taxes on that average property were about $5,500 in 2007.

Along with data on specific properties, that is the sort of information you can find at the Assessor's Office. City Assessor Steve Ruelke, and his seasoned and expert support staff — Marion Perna, Angela Collery and assistant assessor Angelo Lallis — welcome visitors on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
